Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco spelter figurines are characterised by streamlined human figures, dynamic poses, and stylized drapery influenced by modernist design movements. Cast in a zinc alloy alternative to bronze, these sculptures were typically painted or patinated and mounted on marble or onyx bases.

Sculptors during the Art Deco era frequently used spelter, a zinc-based alloy, alongside bronze, ivory, and cold-painted finishes. These metal figures were typically set on contrasting carved mineral plinths, such as onyx, alabaster, or Belgian black marble.

Authentic period pieces exhibit crisp casting details, original patination or painted finishes showing light surface oxidation, and era-appropriate mounting techniques. Look for incised signatures from recognised sculptors near the base and examine the plinth material for period wear.

Place the sculpture on a mantelpiece, console table, or bookshelf to serve as a focal point. Contrast the metallic patina and geometric mineral base with neutral backdrop tones, modern ceramics, or polished wood furniture.

Dust the metal figure lightly using a dry microfibre cloth or soft brush, avoiding chemical solvents that strip historical patination. Clean the onyx plinth with a damp cloth and preserve its finish using a light coat of neutral microcrystalline wax.
