This mahogany Chippendale style side cabinet dates from 1900 and displays a warm brown colour. Standing 91 cm high, 117 cm wide and 48 cm deep, the unit incorporates three central drawers fitted with brass swan neck handles and key escutcheons, flanked by two curved cupboards. The flame mahogany veneer is complemented by carved cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet, along with gadrooned mouldings along the top edge and blind fretwork detailing on the uprights. Suitable for placement in a hallway, dining room or living room, the cabinet provides surface display space alongside enclosed and drawer storage. The compact depth ensures it sits comfortably against a wall while offering practical everyday utility for modern homes seeking traditional English country house character.

Chippendale style furniture originates from 18th-century English designs pioneered by Thomas Chippendale, characterized by carved decoration, cabriole legs, ball-and-claw feet, and the extensive use of dark mahogany timber.

These cabinets predominantly feature solid mahogany framework with flame mahogany wood veneers, complemented by cast brass hardware such as swan-neck drop handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Key design features include hand-carved details along the knees and borders, deep flame mahogany grain patterns, dovetail jointed construction, and cabriole legs terminating in ball-and-claw feet.

A mahogany side cabinet acts as a grounding anchor in a hallway or dining room, functioning alongside minimalist contemporary artwork, neutral paint palettes, and modern table lamps to balance the rich wood tones.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, apply beeswax polish sparingly along the direction of the wood grain twice per year, and position the piece away from direct heat sources and sunlight.
