Description

Gertrude Ellen Hayes ARE SWA 1872-1956.Born in London she studied at the Royal College of Art.For many years she was the art mistress Rugby School and later married the artist Alfred Kennington Morgan and from that date signed her work Gertrude Morgan.She exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1896 and the principle galleries in London, including the Society of Women Artists,and also in the provinces. This fine study of ‘ Peonies ‘ is possibly her Royal Academy exhibit of 1916 no 453.Housed in a fine quality gilded Watts frame. ‘Peonies’ signed ,relined oil on canvas, image size 30x60 cms,framed size 50x80 cms .Provenance: with Marie Louise Fine Art
