This Victorian artwork depicts a Chinoiserie Revival design drawing on paper in watercolour, ink, and graphite, measuring 47 cm high and 30 cm wide. The composition presents an architectural proposal for a cream lacquer liquor cabinet on a carved gilt stand, created by Maison Krieger and retailed through Vernon at 28 North Audley Street, London, for Mrs E. Will. The visual elements include detailed technical annotations, a Chinoiserie landscape scene rendered in muted cream tones across the cabinet doors, carved cabriole legs with claw feet on the stand, and intricate gilt ornamentation. The piece shows signs of age through creasing and fading on the paper, alongside a small loss to the bottom left of the ebonised wooden frame. Suitable for display in a drawing room, study, or hallway, the framed artwork fits well above a sideboard or console table to add historic character to traditional and eclectic interiors. It brings a refined 19th-century French chateau aesthetic to contemporary homes without requiring floor space, serving as a sophisticated focal point on an accent wall. Collectors of early 20th-century design documents and architectural watercolours will find it a compelling addition to a gallery wall or dedicated study collection.

Architectural and furniture design drawings are detailed watercolour or ink illustrations created by master cabinetmakers and interior designers to present bespoke concepts to clients prior to manufacturing.

These presentation drawings were rendered using watercolour pigments, gouache, and graphite or iron gall ink on heavyweight wove or rag paper.

Authentic period sketches feature contemporary annotations, scale measurements, workshop stamps or signatures, natural paper ageing, and light graphite grid lines.

Frame the artwork using acid-free conservation materials and UV-protective glass, then display it as part of a gallery wall or positioned above a console table or sideboard.

Store and display paper artwork away from direct sunlight, dampness, and extreme temperature fluctuations to prevent foxing and pigment degradation.
