A Pair of Hand Carved Teak Raj Period Performing Elephants, Indian Circa 1880

A most impressive pair of large Indian Raj period performing show elephants. Each elephant is hand carved from one piece of rich, solid teak.

The figures are left and right handed and each elephant has one leg raised with its foot playfully resting on a ball.

The figures are mounted and displayed on their original rectangular solid teak bases. Each has a chamfered edge and is intricately hand carved with a foliate design on all four sides.
