18th century
Description

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Eighteenth-century ecclesiastical carvings typically feature figurative depictions with detailed drapery, symbolic attributes, and expressive postures tailored for personal or church devotional use.

Sculptors across Continental Europe primarily utilised regional hardwoods such as oak, walnut, lime, and pine, which allowed for intricate hand-carving and durable construction.

Authentic pieces generally display period-correct hand-tool marks, natural wood shrinkage along the grain, stable age-related surface oxidisation, and original joinery on the base or plinth.

A carved figure functions well as a focal accent on a sideboard, bookshelf, or mantle, bringing texture, deep wood tones, and historical structure into modern or eclectic spaces.

Keep carved oak sculptures away from direct heat sources and high humidity fluctuations, dusting gently with a soft dry brush and applying a neutral microcrystalline wax occasionally.
