A magnificent large lacquer tray by the outstanding artist TSUISHU YOZEI XX , art name Tsuishu Toyogoro (1880 - 1952 ).
Tsuishu was born into a family of Lacquer makers working since the 14thC. He studied under Ishikawa Komei and Satake Eiko , He exhibited at many home and overseas exhibitions including ;
Paris World Exposition 1900 . Bronze medal .
Tokyo Exposition 1907 . Second prize .
Noten Exhibition 1913 and many exhibitions until 1922 , winning prizes at all .
In 1925 he won a Grand Prix at the Great Art Deco Exposition in Paris , we believe this tray was in this exposition.
This is a remarkable lacquer plaque with great depth to the carving and took great skill and and knowledge , taking a long period of time to create.
Contained in its original tomobako and with an image we believe was prepared for the Paris Exhibition .
