Fritz Kochendörfer (1871–1942) was a prominent German sculptor known for his prolific work in the Art Nouveau style, specializing in busts, figurines, and decorative objects. Born in Mannheim in 1871, Kochendörfer studied sculpture at the Munich Academy of Art. He refined his skills further by working extensively with marble in Rome and Florence. Upon returning to Germany, he worked for the Kunstanstalt Schumacher & Co. in Osterode am Harz. He eventually established his own successful workshops, at one point employing over 100 people to produce marble, terracotta, and stone sculptures.
