This rare art pottery jug was made at the Sunflower Pottery Studio at Clevedon Court, Somerset, England circa 1890.He produced these exotic wares in very small numbers as individual works of art which were then retailed at high class shops and stores in England and America at exclusively high prices. This beautiful individually designed jug is elegant in its design. It has a bulbous tapering body with a slender ring moulded neck which flares into the shaped spout and opposite there is a very pleasing, generously sized handle. The jug has a rich mid green thick glaze with a front central incised medallion of spreading stems with stylised flower heads and berries which are almost in a Celtic design.
