Anthony Short Antiques has dated this George III Secretaire Tallboy to the 18th Century.
A late 18th-century George III painted mahogany chest-on-chest, also known as a tallboy. The piece is divided into two sections by a moulding.

The lower section features a painted secretaire drawer above two long, graduating cockbeaded drawers, again beautifully oak-lined, and stands proudly on its original shaped bracket feet. All drawers retain their original finely cast brass handles and escutcheons, enhancing its period character and authenticity.

This tallboy has a particularly good colour and patina, the painted surface and mahogany showing the gentle wear and depth expected of a well?kept Georgian piece. It is sturdy, elegant and highly practical, making it suitable for any period or character home.

A fine testament to late 18th?century craftsmanship and Georgian design, this painted chest-on-chest or tallboy would make a striking addition to any refined interior. For ease of transport and installation, the piece separates into two sections.
