Magnificent Japanese Meiji (late 19thc) Bronze Tiger, Mitsumoto Omori

First-rate Japanese Meiji (late 19thC) bronze tiger with glass eyes by Mitsumoto Omori (Kogen), one of Japan’s foremost sculptors of big cats (particularly lions and tigers). The muscular and powerful tiger is beautifully modelled with great delicacy and strength. Signed on the belly in a seal. 46cm wide x 18.5cm high x 12cm deep, weight: 3.7kg.
 
Excellent condition and lovely verdigris patina.
