We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer warping. Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and occasionally apply a pure beeswax polish to nourish the timber.

An antique chest can serve as a sophisticated anchor piece in a contemporary bedroom or hallway, paired with minimal modern lighting and abstract art to create a balanced contrast between historical craftsmanship and clean lines.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-appropriate construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer boxes, secondary timbers like pine or oak in concealed areas, and natural ageing characteristics such as subtle surface oxidation and shrinkage cracks in the timber.

These pieces were typically crafted using solid mahogany or oak frameworks, frequently faced with fine mahogany veneers, contrasting stringing such as ebony or boxwood, and fitted with cast brass or stamped brass drop handles.

Edwardian furniture, produced during the reign of King Edward VII from 1901 to 1910, often looked back to 18th-century Sheraton and Hepplewhite designs, featuring lighter proportions, delicate stringing, and refined mahogany or satinwood veneers.
