Attractive good quality, mid 19th Century Grand Tour patinated bronze model of the ''Hound of Alcibiades'' on a giallo antico marble block base. Purchased by Henry Constantine Jennings in Rome in 1750s it is generally referred to as the Hound of Alcibiades or simply the �Jennings Dog�. The Roman original in marble was itself a copy of a Hellenistic bronze statue of a large dog known as the �Molossian Hound� and now resides in the British Museum.
