Antique Waltham full hunter stag pocket watch.

The watch has a seven jewel Traveler grade stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 12,171,723 which dates it back to 1903. The movement is protected by an inner cover which has a later inscription, ‘George Thomas, 11 Commercial Street, Glyncorrwg, 1922’. Glyncorrwg was once the bustling centre of a thriving coal mining community with many of the locals working at Glyncorrwg Colliery. The watch is very grand for a coal miner, and indeed the difference in dates suggests he was given the watch, possibly a family heirloom.

The watch measures 51.5mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 14kt gold filled and was made by the Crescent Watch Case Company. It is beautifully ornate on all surfaces, and it has a fantastic image of a 12-point stag (known as a royal stag) to the reverse. The case is in excellent condition.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover.

Inside, there is a glass lens which is in super condition, as is the signed dial with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
