Description

Its the little details that make an IWC so special

This is an exemplary example of a gents classic wristwatch made by the world renowned premier maker International Watch Company or IWC.

This is the very rare Jumbo size model.

It has the legendary IWC in house calibre 8541 fully automatic movement with quick set date regarded as one of the finest automatics ever made and known as the "watchmakers watch" as you can see is in superb condition.

The dial is in mint condition having been fully restored.

The attention to detail is what make these IWC watches stand out from other manufacturers. The movement has Pelaton automatic winding the most efficient winding system but very expensive to make.

The minute markers are small polished silver plated circles that are individually machined into the surface of the dial, everyone else like Rolex and Omega just used printed minute markers.

The seconds hand is domed along its whole length meaning that from any angle the light reflects along its centre line, these are very difficult to make, everyone else just used standard flat topped seconds hands

As you would expect the watch is fully marked on the dial, movement and case.

The watch case is Jumbo size and measures 37mm in diameter not including the crown.

We can fit any colour or style of strap or we can fit a stainless steel mesh bracelet which is adjustable to fit any size

The watch has just been fully serviced and comes with a 12 month warranty.

If you only ever buy one vintage watch make it an IWC.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Watches from this era typically feature minimalist dials, slender baton markers, polished steel or gold cases, and mechanical movements housed in understated proportions.

These timepieces commonly utilised stainless steel or solid gold for cases, acrylic or mineral glass crystals, and intricate mechanical movements driven by manual winding or rotor-based automatic systems.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarking on the case, checking the serial and calibre numbers stamped on the internal movement, and ensuring the dial typography matches factory specifications for that specific production year.

A classic timepiece pairs effortlessly with tailored menswear or smart-casual attire, serving as a subtle focal point that complements leather accessories and understated tailoring.

Preservation requires avoiding exposure to moisture and magnetic fields, storing the piece in a climate-controlled environment, and scheduling professional servicing by a qualified horologist every three to five years.
