Description

This is an exquisitely painted Mughal painting of a hunting scene dating from around the mid 19th Century. The very finely executed painting is in strong gouche colours and depicts a wonderful scene full of action and drama; one hunter is on horseback, another on a camel, there are other huntsmen with curved swords, a dog to the foreground and what appears to be a black dragon creature attacking them.

The colours to this are especially vibrant and the detail fantastic; there is calligraphy above and below and it appears to be signed by the artist to the border. The painting is a good size and is presented in deep solid oak frame which suits it well.

The frame measures 44 cms by 34 cms.
