We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Plaster busts depicting classical figures became prominent during the 18th and 19th centuries as educational tools for artists and as prized souvenirs for travellers undertaking the Grand Tour across Europe.

These pieces were typically cast in plaster of Paris from moulds taken of classical antiquities, then hand-finished and painted or patinated to simulate bronze, terracotta, or marble.

Authentic period pieces often exhibit natural ageing such as fine craquelure, surface dust accumulation in crevices, genuine wear to the patination, and construction methods consistent with nineteenth-century plaster casting.

Plaster busts add classical gravitas and architectural interest when placed upon a mantelpiece, bookshelf, or wooden desk, contrasting effectively against modern minimalist or traditional backdrops.

Plaster is extremely porous and water-soluble; it should be cleaned exclusively with a very soft, dry brush or feather duster, avoiding all liquids, moisture, and chemical cleaners.
