Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cold painted bronzes were predominantly produced in Austria, particularly Vienna, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Sculptors applied layers of enamel or oil paint to cast bronze without firing, resulting in realistic animalier sculptures and detailed decorative objects.

These pieces were created using the lost-wax casting technique to achieve precise anatomical detail in bronze. Once cast, artists applied cold enamel pigments or oil paint directly to the metal surface to create nuanced colouration.

Authentic period examples exhibit significant weight relative to their size, sharp casting details, and natural surface wear where paint has gently rubbed away on high points over time. Stamped signatures, foundry marks, or country of origin marks are also common on genuine items.

Bronze animal sculptures function well as decorative accents atop stacks of books, alongside framed artwork on mantelpieces, or positioned on an office desk. Their rich tone and tactile details add depth to both traditional and modern decor schemes.

Dust the surface regularly using a soft, dry camel-hair brush or microfibre cloth. Avoid liquid cleansers, chemical polishes, and water, as moisture and solvent agents can strip away original paint layers and patination.
