Oil Painting of Trafalgar Square, London

A very interesting and decorative oil on canvas of Trafalgar Square. The view looks across Trafalgar Square to Saint Martin in the Fields Church and the National Gallery. The technique is bold with a great use of a pink, grey and blue colour palette to create a twilight scene. The paint has been applied thickly in places to indicate depth and tone. The work is in good condition and is signed to the lower right although I have not been able to identify the artist. The reverse of the work does give the title and a date of 1958. The painting has been framed in a very large and impressive Georgian frame with the original gilding; it was not unusual for works from this period to reuse earlier frames. The whole has a great decorative look and much London interest.
