FAQs

Early 19th-century English porcelain frequently reflects Regency and late Georgian design aesthetics, characterised by neoclassical motifs, rich cobalt blue grounds, and extensive hand-applied gilding.

These pieces were typically crafted from soft-paste or bone china body compositions, shaped using a combination of throwing and pressing techniques, and hand-painted over or under the glaze before multiple kiln firings.

Authenticity is determined by examining the body weight, translucency under strong light, hand-painted details rather than transfer printing, foot-ring characteristics, and occasionally pattern numbers or factory marks in iron-red or gilt.

They can be displayed within glass-fronted cabinets, mounted on specialized wall brackets, or utilized as sophisticated accent pieces on mantelpieces and occasional tables to introduce historical texture.

Antique porcelain requires gentle hand washing in lukewarm water with mild detergent; dishwashers, microwaves, and abrasive sponges must be strictly avoided to protect fragile ceramic bodies and delicate gilding.
