Aramis Antiques has dated this Antique Guernsey Coastal Etching to the Victorian era.
The busy scene is full of men, women and children engaged on the task, with the animals including a dog and various tools, against a distant choppy sea. Edward Duncan was a renowned watercolourist, member of the Royal Society of Watercolourists and patronised by Queen Victoria. The engraving has been recently reframed. There is a little foxing in the title margin, which does not detract, and no damage. The engraving is an interesting historical image of life in the late 19thC.
