Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

A Victorian mahogany chest of drawers is a piece of storage furniture produced during the reign of Queen Victoria (18371901), typically constructed from dense tropical hardwood with multiple horizontal drawers.

These pieces were typically built using solid mahogany or mahogany veneers over secondary softwoods like pine, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawer construction and turned wooden knobs.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetailing, timber shrinkage consistent with age, original brass or wooden key escutcheons, and secondary woods on the interior drawer linings.

It serves as a grounding focal point in a contemporary bedroom or hallway, often contrasted with minimalist lighting, neutral walls, and contemporary abstract art to balance traditional weight.

Maintain the timber by dusting with a dry, soft cloth, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent fading, and periodically nourishing the wood with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
