In the early 20th century, Bowen travelled to Holland, where he painted maritime landscapes and windmill scenes. He went on to form what was later known as the Owen Bowen School of Art. Before his death at the age of 94 in 1967, Bowen exhibited his work regularly throughout England, showing at the Walker Gallery, the Royal Cambrian Academy and the R.A. His work is held in many private and public collections and his paintings are in great demand to this day.
"Pinks, Pansies and Geums" and "Roses" are a lovely pair of oil paintings by Owen Bowen. These are fine early examples dating from 1915, the period Bowen was painting his best work. Each measures 14" x 10" and is signed. They are in fine original gilt frames giving an overall size of 23"x 19" for each painting. Each is inscribed on the back with a title, and each also has a nice old label for "F. Beecroft, Bradford" on the back.
