Walter Cecil Horsnell (1911–1997) was a British landscape artist born in Ware, Hertfordshire in 1911, and later based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, until his death in 1997 . A skilled painter in watercolour, oil, and pastel, Horsnell was deeply influenced by French Impressionists—particularly Camille Pissarro—evident in his atmospheric brushwork and tonal subtlety.

He was especially associated with North Yorkshire scenery, producing iconic views of Knaresborough’s High Bridge, Nidd River, and Viaduct in multiple oils and watercolours. His works regularly surfaced in regional auctions, with signed Knaresborough scenes known to fetch between £80 and £300 at auction, depending on size and condition.
