Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

18th-century Dutch landscape paintings focus on rural vistas, dense forest foliage, and naturalistic atmospheric effects. Artists during this period built upon the traditions of the Golden Age, emphasising realistic depictions of light, foliage, and rustic figures going about daily life.

Oil paintings from this era were typically executed using oil pigments on wooden panels or stretched linen canvas. Frames were made from carved wood, often finished with gesso and hand-applied gold leaf gilding featuring ornate pierced scrollwork.

Authentic pieces display natural craquelure across the paint surface consistent with age, period-correct joinery on wooden frames, and aged backing materials. Examination under ultraviolet light can reveal historic restoration, signatures, and varnish layers.

A pair of framed landscape paintings can be hung side by side above a sideboard, mantelpiece, or desk to create balance. They can also be incorporated into a gallery wall, pairing historical artwork with clean-lined contemporary furnishings for visual contrast.

Keep artwork away from direct sunlight, heating sources, and fluctuating humidity to prevent cracking and canvas distortion. Dust the frame gently with a dry, soft brush, avoiding liquid cleaners on gilding and paint surfaces.
