Description

Art Deco bronze figure Bacchante by Joe Descomps (1869-1950) using his pseudonym Guirande. A stunning Art Deco silvered bronze study of a beautiful young woman holding a bunch of grapes in one hand and with her tunic decorated with grapes. A handmaiden of Bacchus dancing. This exquisite figure stands on tiptoe and with one arm raised. Excellent cast and fine hand finished detail. Signed in the bronze at the back of her robe – Guirande and in the marble base. The base is also signed by the LaPointe foundry who were based in Paris.  A beautiful and rare piece of Art deco sculpture
