Introduction
A fine original Austrian Art Deco gilt bronze ballerina by Josef Lorenzl, 1892-1950
The ballerina is captured in an elegant pose, balancing upon one leg while her elongated figure creates a wonderfully graceful silhouette. Her raised head, closed eyes and flowing drapery convey the sophisticated movement associated with Lorenzl's celebrated female figures.

The warm gilt bronze surface contrasts beautifully with the architectural onyx plinth, producing a particularly decorative example of Austrian Art Deco sculpture.
Signed Lorenzl to the reverse of the raised circular bronze base.
