A pair of magnificent Renaissance style antique bronze ewers with two patinas. The main body is patinated and adorned with bas-reliefs after Clodion portraying bacchanalian scenes of dancing cherubs with a goat. Above this is a gilt bronze frieze decorated with vine leaves and grapes, whilst below is decorated with gilt bronze acanthus leaves
The handles are entwined with vine leaves and fruit, and ending with a bronze rams head. Each has a winged bacchic-putto sitting astride.
A magnificent superb quality pair of ewers.
