Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Renaissance Revival ewers produced in late nineteenth-century France drew heavily upon classical mythology, sixteenth-century Mannerist proportions, and eighteenth-century sculptural models like those by Clodion. They typically feature slim spouts, high-arched handles, and detailed narrative friezes depicting cherubs, satyrs, or bacchanalian processions.

These decorative vessels were crafted using lost-wax or sand casting techniques in bronze. They feature a combination of dark patination on the central body and fire-gilded bronze (ormolu) on the base, neck, and decorative mounts to create high visual contrast.

Authentic late nineteenth-century French bronzes show precise hand-chasing detail, crisp definition in the relief work, natural age wear on handling points, and threaded bolt assembly inside the hollow base. Foundry stamps, maker initials, or inscriptions after famous sculptors like Clodion are also common indicators.

A paired set of decorative bronze ewers is traditionally styled symmetrically to frame a central focal point, such as flanking a mantelpiece clock or placed on opposite ends of a large sideboard. Their dual-tone dark and gilt finish pairs well against neutral stone, dark wood, or deep-toned painted backdrops.

Maintain patinated and gilt bronze by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth or a natural bristle brush for intricate recesses. Avoid using chemical cleaners, brass polishes, or water, as these can strip the delicate gilded layer and alter the natural historic patination.
