Description

Gents 9ct gold Omega wrist watch, 1964.

UK POSTAGE ONLY FOR THIS ITEM

The watch was a calibre 269 17-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 21,385,627 which dates it back to 1964.

The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the later winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1965, together with the case maker’s mark for the English case maker Aaron Dennison, and the Omega mark. Precious metal cases were often manufactured in the destination country to avoid import taxes. The front and sides of the case are in good condition, the case back has some unevenness

The lens has very light marking but is very acceptable.

The signed dial is in good original condition with original hands, subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

Date of Manufacture

The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this 9ct Gold Omega Watch to the 1960s.

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (because of GPSR legislation, we no longer post items less than 100 years old to Europe, including Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.

Mid-century wristwatches are characterised by minimalist dials, clean geometric numerals, and understated case designs that prioritise elegance and legibility.

Luxury timepieces from this era typically feature cases crafted from solid gold, rolled gold, or stainless steel, paired with high-grade mechanical movements and leather straps.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarked case metals, matching movement serial numbers with manufacturer archives, and checking dial typography against period-correct examples.

A vintage gold watch pairs effortlessly with tailored suiting, knitwear, or smart-casual attire, serving as a subtle focal point that adds historical character to daily wear.

Preservation requires regular mechanical servicing every few years, avoiding exposure to moisture and magnetic fields, and storing the timepiece in a controlled environment.
