N Wilson Antiques Clocks has dated this Cold Painted Bronze Hawk to the 1890s.
The piece depicts a hawk landing on a rock with its wings outstretched and its head dipped. It is cast in exceptional detail with stunning paintwork highlighting every aspect of the hawks feathers, talons, and eyes. The whole piece is then mounted on an absolutely beautiful piece of real quartz rock with give the hawk an even more impressive and naturalistic look. The piece was made in Austria and is of the absolute upmost quality, which is no surprise as it was made by Franz Xaver Bergmann (1861-1936) and is stamped to the underside of the tail with his signature vase mark.
