A fine quality pair of antique Japanese cloisonne enamel charger plates. Square in shape with cantered corners

The central square medallions depict scenes with birds, a crane, blooming tree branches and Mount Fuji in the background, vibrant turquoise sky, all set on a ground decorated with a wide border of intricate geometric and floral patterns with a gilt rim.

The backside turquoise decorated with a swirl pattern and a central flower made in the Cloisonne technique. It has a hanging mechanism on the backside. Unmarked. late 19th Century

Origin/Age: Japan, Meiji Period, C. 1880
