The George III style spans the mid-to-late 18th century, characterised by neoclassical influences, refined proportions, and the expert use of imported timbers such as mahogany and satinwood.

Pieces from this era typically feature solid mahogany or pine frames veneered with figured mahogany, accented by contrasting stringing and hand-cut dovetail joints in the drawer construction.

Authentic pieces exhibit period-correct joinery, hand-cut secondary woods like oak or pine at the back and drawer linings, and subtle signs of age such as hand-forged screws or oxidised brass fixings.

Pair the traditional wood tones with modern minimal lighting, contemporary abstract artwork above, and clean-lined seating to create a balanced, layered aesthetic.

Keep the wood away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent veneer cracking, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
