Large Venetian Scene Oil Painting

A large oil on canvas Venetian scene. The work beautifully and skilfully depicts a view along a canal in Venice towards one of the many bridges. The technique is post-impressionist in style with a use of thick impasto paint applied with great ability, mixing colours on the canvas to create detail in the figures and buildings, capturing the glorious light. The piece is signed to the lower right but the signature is unidentified, however the quality of the painting speaks for itself. The painting is in excellent untouched condition and retains the original good quality frame. The whole is a fine and decorative view of Venice and ready to hang. C.1950.
