Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. FAQs

French faience refers to tin-glazed earthenware produced in France, traditionally featuring hand-painted polychrome or blue-and-white designs on an opaque white glaze.

These ewers are constructed from ceramic earthenware with a tin glaze, frequently complemented by hinged metal mounts such as pewter for the lids and thumbpieces.

Authentic pieces often exhibit hand-painted brushwork irregularities, crazing in the tin glaze, minor glaze chips along foot rims, and traditional maker marks or numbers on the underside.

An antique ewer can be displayed as a standalone decorative object on a sideboard, mantelpiece, or open shelving unit to introduce historical colour and texture.

Dust gently with a soft, dry cloth and avoid immersion in water or the use of chemical cleaning agents to protect the porous earthenware body and historic glaze.
