Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

The Welsh dresser originated in the seventeenth century as a simple wooden table with an open plate rack added above for storing and displaying everyday tableware.

Authentic period dressers are typically constructed from native timbers such as oak, elm, or pine, utilizing traditional joinery techniques like hand-cut dovetails and pegged mortise and tenon joints.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the timber patination, tool marks, hand-carved elements, and consistent wear patterns that indicate genuine age rather than modern replication.

An antique dresser serves as a functional statement piece in contemporary kitchens or dining rooms, providing contrasting texture when paired with minimalist decor and modern lighting.

Preservation involves maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight, and periodically applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber without damaging the historic finish.
