Description

George Alexander 1832-1913 was a Leeds painter, the son of a saddle maker. He painted local scenes and also views of the Lake District and Wales.

"Huddersfield from Longley Hall" is one of his finest works. An oil on canvas measuring 24"x 36", it is signed with the monogram G.A. lower left and is dated 1880. It is in a wonderful old gilt frame giving an overall size of

36" x 48". On the back is an inscription with the title "Huddersfield from Longley Hall".

A rare and interesting old Huddersfield painting.
