Small Arts & Crafts Settle C.1900

Description

Unusual little arts and crafts oak settle or hall seat c.1900. Fine oak frame with shaped top rail and turned finials over a run of 27 slim spindles to the backrest with corresponding ball finials above and below and steamed bentwood arms. Webbed seat freshly upholstered in an pale linen with an Arts & Crafts style woven pattern of birds and foliage. Slim legs joined with double stretchers to each side, the front featuring a repeat of the run of spindles on the backrest. Shaped detail to the feet of the front stiles. the rear ones curving backwards for stability.
