A very large and impressive highly detailed Victorian oil on canvas of atmospheric highland landscape with cattle and figure in the foreground. Apparently unsigned, but attributed to Franz Hoepfner (1840-1893).
Franz Hoepfner moved to England after serving in the Franco-Prussian war and after marrying in Bristol in 1879, he moved to and settled on The Isle of Man. Examples of his work can be found in the Manx Musuem and Government House, Isle of Man.
Professionally conserved and reframed in period style swept frame, ready to be placed into the home.
