Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Victorian garden table dates from 1920. It combines a rectangular weathered wooden plank top with wrought iron strapwork legs finished in a distressed white paint. The base exhibits ornate scrollwork legs and a twisted metal stretcher running between them, showing visible oxidation and wear consistent with age and outdoor use. The timber top displays distinct grain patterns, weathering, and a central lighter patch of discoloration. Practical in scale, the piece measures 56 cm high, 51 cm wide, and 38 cm deep. Suitable for placement in a sunlit conservatory or an empty corner of a home or garden room, it provides a compact surface for decorative items or small potted plants while adding an aged rustic character to the interior setting.

FAQs

Strapwork refers to decorative metalwork formed from flat bands or strips of wrought iron bent into scrolling, geometrical, or interlocking patterns, commonly featured on nineteenth-century garden furniture.

These tables typically feature a hand-forged wrought iron or cast iron base paired with a solid wooden plank top, often painted or left to weather naturally outdoors.

Authentic pieces display signs of natural oxidisation, hand-riveted or traditional joinery, variable scroll thickness, and naturally distressed painted surfaces rather than uniform modern powder coatings.

Position the table in a sunlit conservatory, hallway, or garden alcove to serve as a plant stand or occasional drinks table, blending rustic patina with contemporary minimalism.

Protect the wooden top with seasonal oil treatments, and apply a light clear microcrystalline wax to the iron frame to stabilise existing oxidisation without removing the historic patina.
