Watercolour of a Cat by M.e.hankinson

A wonderfully charming watercolour drawing heightened with body colour depicting a cat. The cat is beautifully observed and drawn, with the use of watercolour and body colour to depict the fur. The piece is in excellent untouched condition and is signed to the lower right. Miss M E Hankinson is little known but did exhibit in Birmingham in 1927 and lived in Manchester. The work is framed in the original frame and also retains an exhibition label on the reverse giving the amazing name of the cat ‘Black eyed Susan’. The whole is a great decorative piece with a lot of presence and is ready to hang. C.1930.
