Martin Murray Antiques has dated this 17th Century Still Life Painting to the 17th Century.
As well as family portraits, still life paintings were extremely popular. Fine foods and tableware was a display of good taste and both are present in this emotive painting, there is a skilful sense of composition, light and detail. The painting has been relined at some point and there are a couple of small areas of restoration that are of a professional quality. The frame is a twentieth century copy of a seventeenth century style.
