Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

Naive art from the 19th century is characterised by a rejection of formal academic perspective and proportion, favouring a direct, flat, and often charmingly unpretentious representation of the subject.

These works were typically created using hand-ground oil pigments applied to stretched woven canvas or wooden panels, housed within handmade wooden frames, often featuring subtle gilt details.

Authenticity is assessed through examination of canvas weave, craquelure patterns in the oil paint, hand-forged or period fixings on the frame, and the natural ageing or oxidisation of the varnish.

Such pieces bring warmth and historical character to modern spaces when hung against textured neutral walls, contrasting sharply with minimalist decor or anchoring a traditional gallery wall.

Preservation requires keeping paintings away from direct sunlight and high humidity, avoiding chemical cleaners on the canvas, and consulting a professional conservator for cleaning or varnish removal.
