An extremely fine Meissen topographical porcelain cabinet cup and saucer, c. 1835. The large, breakfast cup, finely hand painted with an extensive view of Dresden, from the South bank of the Elbe, depicting figures walking in the foreground, whilst workmen unload a boat on the river.
Over the river can be seen the Augustus Bridge, the Frauenkirche, and the Katholische Hofkirche, all within a rectangular gilt panel.
All upon an underglaze cobalt blue ground, embellished with dense leafing vine in gilt.
The saucer gilded with a continuous gilt band of leaves on a cobalt blue ground.
Inscribed ‘Dresden’ to the underside of the cup.
Underglaze blue crossed swords marks, and impressed ‘28’ to both pieces.
Height of cup - 6.5 cm, 2 1/2”.
Diameter of saucer - 15.5 cm, 6 1/8”.
Condition – Minute wear to the gilt, commensurate with the age of the items. No damage. No restoration.
