A Quirky, Small Sized Mid 18th Century English Oak Dresser Base.
This lovely piece has all the quirks and rustic elements associated with the most interesting pieces of country furniture of this period. The two planked top with a raised rail on it and an unusual drawer configuration each with edge mouldings. The two wider drawers flanking a narrower central one. The drawers have swan''s neck handles, retaining their original gilding. The shaped corner brackets under the frieze have a chinoiserie style to them. The piece stands on four simple legs, joined by rustic stretchers.
Dresser bases of this size are not commonly encountered. It has great decorative appeal with a lovely colour and patination throughout.
