Circle of ANTHONIE PALAMEDESZ. (DELFT 1601-1673 AMSTERDAM) - A fine 17th century dutch portrait of a beautiful woman, seated and holding a fan. She is dressed in lovely garments typical of the mid 17th century and she wears a black cap with her hair tied back. There are subtle hints of her wealth in the portrait with her high quality diamond earrings and gold diamond ring.
The portrait is set in a ebonised frame with a small gilt slip. The painting is of excellent quality and is in good condition for its age, it has been relined at some stage, with evidence of old tare restorations . It appears to have also been reconsolidated, there is evidence of old paint lifting , mainly to the bottom right hand side but this appears to have been stabilised whenever it was reconsolidated.
