Marylebone Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The quality is absolutely amazing, this is a very smart and very useful item.
This has lovely inset and turned handles, this chest is strictly speaking called a naval chest, rather than a military chest. The lower section has lots of storage space, all the drawers have fine hand cut dovetailed joints. There are beautiful brass fixtures throughout, and this comes apart in two pieces for ease of transport.

We have just had this re-polished, it is in very good condition for its age. There is just some very minor wear and a few marks remaining here and there beneath the polish.
