Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Cloisonne technique was brought to China during the Yuan Dynasty and reached high technical perfection during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Artisans used thin metal wires to form compartments on a bronze or copper base, which were filled with enamel pastes and fired multiple times.

Traditional cloisonne is constructed from a copper or bronze base vessel, fitted with fine brass or copper cloisons (wires). These cell compartments are filled with coloured glass-based enamel pastes and finished with gilded metal rims.

Authentic antique cloisonne typically displays minor surface pitting from the firing process, hand-applied wirework with slight irregularities, substantial weight from a cast bronze or copper base, and natural oxidisation on exposed metal surfaces.

An antique cloisonne charger functions well displayed upright on a carved timber stand positioned on a sideboard, or mounted as focal wall art within a curated gallery display.

Clean cloisonne enamel using a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth to remove dust. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners, abrasives, or soaking in water, as moisture can compromise the metal cloisons and underlying substrate.
