FAQs

Victorian furniture spans the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901, encompassing various revival styles as well as practical, sturdy household items crafted from domestic and imported timbers.

Cabinet makers predominantly used native softwoods like Scots pine alongside hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, and walnut, frequently incorporating hand-cut dovetail joints and turned wooden knobs.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining construction methods, such as hand-cut dovetails on drawer boxes, tongue-and-groove backboards, original timber shrinkage cracks, and the presence of old-world hardware or key escutcheons.

An antique pine chest provides practical bedside or bedroom storage while introducing warmth and textural contrast, pairing effectively with minimalist decor, neutral walls, or modern lighting.

Preserve antique pine by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber splitting, applying microcrystalline wax periodically to nourish the wood, and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners.
