A fine and stylish watercolour also perhaps using gouache, by John E Sutcliffe 1876-1923 depicting a very stylish lady. The technique is wonderfully free and bold with a great use of colour and broad brushstrokes. The work is fully signed to the lower part of the painting. John E Sutcliffe 1876-1923 was an artist working in a variety of styles and areas, particularly as a figure painter as in this work. He lived in London and Surrey and exhibited at all the major galleries including The Royal Academy and Royal Institute of Oil Painters. This work is in excellent condition with bright, fresh colours and is framed in a modern frame and mount. C.1910.
