FAQs

Early 20th century watercolours often captured atmospheric landscape and townscape scenes with loose brushwork, focusing on light, weather, and local colour.

These works typically used pigment-based watercolours applied to heavy-weight rag paper or watercolour board, often finished with graphite or ink detailing.

Authenticity is assessed through paper ageing characteristics, hand-mixed historical pigments, artist signatures, framing materials, and stylistic consistency with the period.

Pairing historical art with contemporary or minimalist framing allows the traditional subject matter to provide character and narrative depth to a modern room.

Watercolours should be displayed out of direct sunlight behind UV-filtering glass and kept in stable, climate-controlled conditions to prevent paper degradation and fading.
